چکیده

This report summarizes this quarters accomplishments of the SciDAC CoG Kit project funded through the Department of Energy MICS program under grant number FWP #56825. The highlights of this semester include the collaboration with other SciDAC projects such as the DOE Science Grid, CMCS, and OGSA. All of these projects reuse components developed and designed by the CoG Kit project. Additionally, we have published several papers, and improved the software Kits with several new features. We have made major progress in supporting the GridFTP protocol in the Java CoG Kit.

Designing Grid-based Problem Solving Environments and Portals

Building Problem Solving environments in the emerging national-scale Computational Grid infrastructure is a challenging task. Accessing advanced Grid services, such as authentication, remote access to computers, resource management, and directory services, is usually not a simple matter for problem solving environment developers. The Commodity Grid project is working to overcome this difficulty...

An Implementation of Interactive Jobs Submission for Grid Computing Portals

The Globus Toolkit has been widely used as middleware in Grid computing environments. Java CoG, Web Service and Portlet help to build Grid computing portals easily and productively. Many Grid Portals can provide a customizable interface allowing scientists and researchers to perform Grid operations such as remote submission of their own programs, staging input and ouput files, and querying reso...

ERDC MSRC/PET TR/00-27 Portals for Web Based Education and Computational Science

We discuss the characteristics of portals defined as web-based interfaces to applications. In particular we focus on portals for either education or computing which we assume will be based on technologies developed for areas such as e-commerce and the large Enterprise Information Portal market. Interoperable portals should be based on interface standards, which are essentially hierarchical fram...
